“A unit of our own”

the story of our hometown readiness unit

The morning of the 7th of October took us by surprise. We weren’t ready for what came for us as a nation. We were sleeping quietly in our beds, houses barely locked, feeling completely safe. All of this has changed abruptly and we had to take decisive actions in order to guard ourselves. We couldn’t let it happen again.

Kadima Zoran is a small town in central Israel, and this is the story of its readiness unit, told by the soldiers serving, while patrolling the streets in a little rented white Nissan Micra.

It’s the story of the people who demanded to be drafted back to the army in order to serve the community in their own hometown for four months.
